HMR Entree is a low-cost diet meal delivery service that can easily be a resource for family caretakers in need of feeding a loved one. Unlike most senior meal delivery services, these prepared meals are not frozen but come in shelf-stable packaging.
The tray is microwaveable and very small in size, making them easy to handle and store for older people who may not be able to lift large shipping boxes or have the freezer space needed to maintain an inventory of senior meals. As the name suggests, you are getting just an entree. There are no breakfasts from this company, and the menu is limited to 14 selections. At around $3.50 a meal, they provide a cost-effective solution for feeding a loved one.
The portion sizes are small, again, because it’s just an entree. You may have to supplement the size of the meal with your own vegetables, fresh salads, or carb side dishes.

This company does not offer any type of satisfaction guarantee, but for they are, we didn’t experience any meals that would require us to take advantage of a guarantee. Shipping is inexpensive compare to frozen senior meal delivery services, at about $10 per order. Shipping is free if you spend over $200, which would translate to 58 meals. They also offer protein shakes, which are quite good and can be blended into a pudding or smoothie. This might be an option if you are having difficulty getting an elderly senior to eat. They taste like a dessert and provide a meal replacement option. But the value of these meals to a family caretaker is their low cost. The food is soft, easy to reheat, and doesn’t require freezer space.
